Waiting for a chance to work with a legendary star is like winning the lottery twice. Endowed with professional talent, 13-year-old Madeline Carroll starred opposite martial artist Jackie Chan in the new family film, “The Spy Next Door.”

Former CIA spy, Bob Ho (Chan), stars as a “nerdy pen salesman” who wishes to marry the mother of three children who have not yet indulged happily with the idea. On his mission to babysit the kids, one child accidentally downloads a file that contains a top-secret formula. Trouble brews as a Russian terrorist comes into play and Ho also has to deal with three underaged children who dislike him. Farren (Carroll) is “exceptionally hard on poor Bob.”

The kids “don’t want [their] mother to have anything to do with him,” explained Carroll. However, Ho “eventually wins [the kids] over” with his skills in fighting, cooperation, and a bit of culinary arts.

Chan is full of surprises as he shows the cast and crew his cooking when he “joined the chefs in the kitchen. His food was amazing!” This “international star” creates a storm of flavor on and off the screen and stirs up a lot of action in this new movie. Carroll describes the movie as “exciting, action packed, and funny” which can only leave readers with an itch to watch the movie in theatres.

Carroll who had starred in “Swing Vote” in 2008 and “Astro Boy” in 2009 is a busy teenager. Underrated for who she is, Carroll was just grateful “that Josh Stern took a chance on [her]. [She] wasn’t a ‘name’” yet. This young actress seized her opportunity and more projects rolled into her hands in the coming years. Carroll could only exclaim how “blessed” and “thankful” she is for all the work she has been able to do.

“Flipped” that also stars Carroll, will be doing justice to the book on screen later this year. Carroll “loved the script” and thought the idea was utterly “original” which good refreshment from other movies.

You can watch Carroll star as Farren in the new Chan movie in theatres today.
