General Hospital’s Lexi Ainsworth
She became a teen sensation when she booked a recurring role on General Hospital. Opposite Haley Pullos (who she calls “the little sister [she] never had”), 17-year-old Lexi Ainsworth stars as one of the “Davis-Girls” on the soap opera.
She stole the spotlight when she pursued in dancing at the age of six. From there, her talent had shown and she was later induced into the acting business. With various bookings of television series such as Gilmore Girls and iCarly, Ainsworth became a small-screen star.
Ainsworth’s first acting job was “Barbie Commercial” which was also her first audition in California. Her career was stimulated, and Ainsworth took off from Oklahoma and moved to the big city. “When I started high school, I decided to stay in California full time” after having to commute from state-to-state for “three years.”
Filming on General Hospital has been utterly different from filming ordinary television series. “The pace has to be so much faster,” she explained, “you have to be right on your marks because 4 cameras are shooting.” The difficulties of soap operas are based on the fact that they “air every day.”
Not only is filming difficult, but Ainsworth has faced with being on screen with only a bathing suit or at one point, a bra and underwear. “I wore a robe the whole time,” but luckily, the scenes “move fast.”
Being in one of the toughest businesses around, Ainsworth finds it “frustrating” when it comes to “memorizing pages and pages of lines to prepare for an audition” and “prepare for several call backs.” Among thousands of others who compete for work, sometimes the “work is for nothing.”
Ainsworth is now a senior in high school, though she has finished her senior year with “homeschooling” and “passed the “California High School exit exam.” She is now looking into taking community college in order to pursue her academic career, despite her hectic schedule of filming and auditioning. Due to no “set work schedule,” Ainsworth is unable to take a classes during the week. “Because of the budget cuts” in California community colleges, some classes she had hoped to take are not available on the weekend.
The normality of this working teenager is illustrated as she discusses school and the activities she enjoys doing. Though she is considered ‘famous,’ she’s no different than her fans. Ainsworth enjoys watching “Cougar Town,” which coincidentally, stars the General Hospital actress Carolyn Hennesy. Not only television, she’s has an “eclectic taste” for most music including “Taylor Swift’s” pop-country.
On the whole, Ainsworth looks forward to grabbing the opportunity to work on a comedy with “Johnny Depp and or Meryl Streep.”
