New Year resolutions never have to be extreme. Goals are made gradually, so here are 25 simple resolutions to add onto your list to develop better health, attitude, and strength internally and externally.

1. Skip the snacks in between meals. Have one certain day out of the week where you can munch on a bag of chips or a candy bar.
2. Stop using the escalators, use the stairs when available.
3. Incorporate at least one type of fruit or vegetable into every meal.
4. Avoid reading tabloids – remember they’re all unconfirmed pieces of information.
5. If you work or go on the computer often, get up every 30 minutes and walk around.
6. Save 1 dollar each week until the end of 2010. You’ll have $52 to donate to the charity of your choice.
7. Read at least one news article daily.
8. Reduce shopping sprees to once or twice a month.
9. Develop a new hobby such as: painting, graphic designing, photography, scrap booking, dancing, ice skating, etc.
10. Tell your loved ones, “I love you,” everyday, no matter what happens that day.
11. Make time for breakfast! Teenagers don’t get enough energy for the day due to lack of a morning meal. It fuels you for the day.
12. Recycle every bottle, can, paper that you see.
13. Instead of buying lunch, make it yourself! Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are long gone. Try looking for easy-to-do recipes on Foodnetwork.com.
14. Don’t drink soda for the next 356 days. The weekly candy bar or chips does the work already.
15. Drink 6-8 cups of water each day.
16. Smile at strangers you meet.
17. Write a thank you note on the check you receive at restaurants.
18. Take an summer class to employ your empty days.
19. Say no to fried french fries and try the alternative: baked garlic french fries.
20. Don’t buy regular snacks, purchase the organic or reduced fat/sugar.
21. Bike to school instead of driving.
22. Attend your first concert.
23. Purchase a journal to write down your thoughts. This keeps the mind active and also allows your personal venting or expressions.
24. Watch a new television show, you might be impressed!
25. Use Facebook or Myspace on weekends only.
